Board Meeting 10 February 2019

Date: 10 February 2019

Location: Gary Sharpe’s House

In Attendance:

  • David Berg
  • Gary Sharp
  • Robert Romanski
  • David Beecham
  • Gary Ciment

Dave Berg called the meeting to order at 3:04 PM at Gary Sharp’s home and what follows preserves a record of discussion, decisions and related actions.

Use of a Home for a Business Purpose:  A potential Johns Woods home buyer contacted board concerning home use for business.  The board commenced discussion involving a neighborhood home for sale whereby the prospective buyer proposed use of its location as a base for performing their business.  The buyer’s onsite engagement with clients and / or associates would be central to the conduct of such business.  With that activity appearing to conflict with language in our CC&R’s, we agreed to contact and refer the matter to the association’s legal counsel.  Following review and interpretation we agreed that our attorney should, on the board’s behalf, contact and advise the buyer of HOA’s position.

New Website:  For the past several meetings, Dave Berg has mentioned that the current JWHOA website is becoming increasingly out-of-date and more difficult to manage.  Gary Ciment agreed to coordinate the design and upgrade of the HOA website using a GoDaddy, with which he’s had some experience in the past.  It was proposed (Dave Berg), seconded (Bob Romanski), and unanimously approved that the board would allocate $999.00 to fund costs for a host vendor to facilitate the upgrade under Gary’s direction.

Junk Pickup:  We agreed to hold the neighborhood junk pick up this spring.  Date to be announced.

Fall Yard Debris Pickup:  It was likewise agreed, given its popularity, to continue the fall yard debris pick up this year.

Board Membership:  Dave Berg announced that At Large JWHOA board member Detlef Curtis will soon be moving out of the neighborhood, and has therefore resigned his position on the board.

Street Parking:  It was discussed, given resident complaints concerning vehicle parking, to raise awareness. It was agreed to issue a neighborhood email citing concerns to stimulate awareness and rally compliance with the CC&R’s, city code, and state regulations.  This has become an annual practice every spring to address such complaints as they surface in the neighborhood.

Adjournment:  Following discussion of the above and miscellaneous issues the meeting was concluded.

Submitted:    Robert Romanski, JWHOA Secretary
